Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA)

Since 1994, NSP has been functioning as SAA for the care, protection and well-being of relinquished and abandoned children within the age group of 0-6 years being supported by Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of Odisha through State Adoption Resource Authority (SARA), Odisha under the supervision of Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), Govt. of India. NSP has made available of a 10 bedded intake capacity care and protection center located in its own campus. As the SAA, the following works have been taken up by NSP in line with the Adoption Regulations, 2017.



Achievements
  •    Since the inception, we have rescued total 280 (cumulative) cases out of which 197 cases have been adopted by prospective adoptive parents with due approval from the DCPO & CWC.
  • 9 nos. of children have been adopted by inter-Country PAPs which is one of the most significant outcomes of this intervention. In the reporting year 5 Nos. children have been adopted by PAPs out of which 1 child is under pre-adoption foster care process.  
  • Continuous follow up is given importance to each case and every adopted cases as well as activities of the SAA is being monitored by appropriate authorities. Documents, Reports & Database have been maintained & updated properly

Child Care Institution (CCI)

NSP established the CCI in 1986, which spans over an area of 11,704 sq. ft. Currently, the CCI functions as a Children’s Home, accommodating up to 150 child inmates, and providing various facilities, such as dormitories, a recreation room, a dining hall, a kitchen, a store, an office, a library, separate toilets, and a counseling and guidance room. The program aims to offer institutional care, support services, and education to children aged 0-18 years who are rescued from difficult circumstances, including neglect, abuse, exploitation, and abandonment. The CCI program receives support from the Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of Odisha. The activities of CCI is supervised and monitored by the Odisha State Child Protection Society (OSCPS), Govt. of Odisha. The staffs deployed by NSP like superintendent, thematic counselors, case workers, paramedical staff, doctors, and other staff work tirelessly to provide institutional care and protection to these children. NSP has formed a committee for the overall management of the Children's Home. Besides this, children's committees have been formed who are somehow taking care of the inmates for better services related to health, sanitation, personal hygiene, food, education, and recreational events. The children regularly receive health services as per the Govt. norms and provisions. In case of emergency the patients are also referred to specialized hospitals. There is also a prescribed diet scale and food menu for the inmates who are provided foods accordingly, and they are encouraged to engage in daily yoga and physical exercises, etc. The children usually go to formal schools and colleges nearby. They are also provided pre-vocational trainings in computer, tailoring, knitting, etc. The CCI provides indoor and outdoor games, a library for reading books, magazines & newspapers, and television to watch in leisure time. The children are also taught music, dance, recitation, rhymes, painting, debate, general knowledge and simple yoga/exercises



Achievements
  • Since inception, 1539 children have been rehabilitated under the CCI.
  •  In the reporting year, 20 children got rehabilitated;  Out of which 1 child is continuing vocational education (welding trade) at the Govt. ITI, Puri and 6 children are studying in +2 (intermediate) .
  • Also during the year, total 10 inmates have appeared HSC examination and 3 children have already been rehabilitated with their families.
