CONFIDENCE BRINGS POSITIVE CHANGES

Failure is not the alternative to success. It’s something to be avoided, but it’s also only a temporary setback on a bigger, more significant course. Everybody encounters failure at one point or another. What truly matters is how you react to and learn from that failure. In our story, the protagonist faced much of her setback because of her background. We all are born ordinary, it takes more than some effort and hard work on each individual’s part to make elevate their life from the normalcy and extraordinary.

 

 

       Kuni Behera, Enrollment ID No.195,  24 yrs is a moderate mental retarded women of rural village ‘Hatabaradi’ in  Khordha District, Odisha brought to Pratisthan School for Mentally Challenged of NIlachal Seva Pratisthan, Dayavihar (Kanas), Puri, Odisha on 05/07/2005. At that time, she had low-self confidence, unable to perform age appropriate behaviours and showing the problem of behaviour such as temper tantrum, odd behaviour etc. After detailed assessment by multi-disciplinary team, it was found that, she had special interest and talent in the field of vocational / adult independent living. Accordingly, she was placed in vocational tailoring unit in cutting and stitching trade; besides   special educators of the project imparted to train her in functional academics, safety social behaviour and domestic skills etc. By imparting regular education & training at PSMC project, she able to boost her confidence and shown tremendous improvements. Her performance from day by day was improved. Presently, she is maintaining her daily living skills independently and her nehaviour was managed.

people and shown erratic behavior towards every one. Lokanath wasn’t able todo her basic daily living skills independently.

plan by use of Functional Analysis, the problem behaviors reduced slowly and
increased positive behaviors. IEP sessions were organized to improve his personal
skills. There is a marked improvement in personal and social skill.

to the education he got different scope and opportunities to show case his hidden talents and uniqueness. By the guidance of the teacher and staffs he improved a lot in sports and co-curricular activities organized by NSP from time to time. He participated in many events and competitions organized at different level. He got first prize in District level song competition. He got a momentum of his life and among others.

           In village screening camp he contacted with social workers of NSP. They motivated his mother to admit her in NSP Special School. His uncle admitted him on 6th April 2006. Just began a step to the school he motivated a lot to feel the learning environment of the school. He got here an environment with adequate teaching aids, teaching methods from special teachers and love and affection of the friends. He was provided free lodging and boarding facilities, that encompasses his attitude to learn more and more. In addition.

      School for Deaf and Blind managing by NSP, Dayavihar. Due to certain difficulties in village, he could not able to read more. The barriers like availability of teaching aids, optical, non-optical and other appliances for visually impaired person. He lost his parents in childhood. Uncle takes his care, whose pretty money was not enough to afford him for education in special school, He belongs to Scheduled caste family. A little money he earns by wage laboring is not adequate rather his family condition become worsening day by day.

Sunil Kumar Jaysingh, a 20 yrs Intellectually Disabled boy bearing Enrollment ID No.335 was brought to Pratisthan School for Mentally Challenged of NSP on 02/04/2010 with his father Ananda Jaysingh, who is a daily wage earner. At that time he was presenting complaints of behavioral problem such as aggressive kicking and head banging; not followed the instructions of others. He also spit on people and shown erratic behavior towards every one. Sunil wasn’t able to do her basic daily living skills independently.

After completion of assessment by the multi disciplinary team he was diagnosed as having Mild Mental Retardation with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Due to his behavioral problem, he was unable to concentrate his studies and other daily living activities. His development convinced us to involve his in the Vocational training. He is going to be a self dependent boy for his living. His family’s happiness knows no bound by watching such an improvement with their loving Sunil.
