NSP has been managing 5 Senior Citizens Homes in Puri District as per the scheme guideline of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India under the “Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) to improve the quality of life of the Senior Citizens”. The aims and objectives: ? To improve quality of life of the senior citizens ? To provide basic amenities ? To encourage productive and active ageing through providing support Under this philanthropic servitude, NSP usually provides basic amenities like shelter, food, medical care, entertainment opportunities and support for capacity building to the inmates (senior citizens) those who are placed at different senior citizen’s homes. This programme also contributes to build and strengthen intergenerational relationship particularly between children, youth and Senior Citizens. Experienced staffs are engaged (Superintendent / Doctor / Nurse / Cook / Social Worker/MTS) as per scheme guidelines in each home. Basic standards are followed to serve them with providing principal meals, breakfast, evening Tea, clothing, Medicare, Physical aids, living devices, recreation facilities, accommodation and security.
Since 2020, NSP has been operating a Mobile Medicare Unit exclusively aims at serving elderly and ailing senior citizens based on the Guideline, which is supported by SSEPD, Govt. of Odisha. The objective of this programme is to provide recognition and opportunity for quality of life improvement and encourage productive and active ageing of the target citizens. The unit has become beneficial to provide routinely medical care for rural communities of Puri district. NSP being the PIA usually covers 400 senior citizens every month enabling them to assume an active role in maintaining and improving their health. During the last quarter of the reporting, the MMU has provided service to 1200 beneficiaries (30 trips) covering 30 villages in Puri district of Odisha. Many senior citizens have appreciated to this need-based health care service provided by NSP in association with SSEPD Department, Govt. of Odisha.
